  • Abstract
    Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate tear secretion and tear film stability after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for the correction of myopia. Methods: This study was a prospective study, on (28 patients) (56 eyes) underwent LASIK to correct myopia ranging from -2.0 to -8.0 diopters. Tear secretion and tear film stability were evaluated preoperatively and 1 week, 1, 3, 6, and 9 months after surgery. Results: Tear secretion and tear film stability after LASIK were reduced during the first 3 months post surgery, and returned to its preoperative values only after 9 months. Conclusion: In the correction of myopia, dry eye occurs commonly after LASIK surgery in patients with no history of dry eye. During the first 6 months after surgery.
