Abstract :
Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the student s knowledge, clinical performance and satisfaction with objective structured clinical exam (OSCE). Subjects and Methods: Design: Pre-post-intervention study design was used in the present study. Setting: The study was carried out in the Faculty of Nursing, Menoufiya University. Subjects.· A purposive sample was used for conduction of this study. It included 98 students Data Collection Tools: An interview questionnaire and the observational sheet were used. They considered by sociodemographic characteristics of the studied sample, their knowledge, clinical performance and satisfaction with OSCE and their opinion about application, preference and difference between OSCE and traditional methods of clinical evaluation. Statistical Analysis: All data collected was coded and entered on Microsoft Access database XP and analyzed with SPSS version 13. Data were presented using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages and a p-value was considered as statistically significant if less than 0.05. Results: According to the current results, the majority of the studied sample was rural students and they had a poor knowledge as regard to OSCE in the pretest. While, in post and retention tests, they achieved a very high level of knowledge in all items related to OSCE. Conclusion: The study concluded that OSCE had assumative and formative assessment advantages. The majority of students were satisfied and found the exam fair and effective. The researchers recommend implementing it throughout all educational years.
