Postpartum Maternal Satisfaction is Affected by Patient’s Demographics and Previous Delivery Experience: A Comparative Study

Introduction: Maternal satisfaction is affected by demo-graphic and social factors. Patients and Methods: We compared post-delivery maternal satisfaction between three patient groups: Women delivering by CS following previous vaginal birth experience, women delivering vaginally following previous CS experience and women delivering by CS and having no previous delivery experience, namely primigravidas (100 patients each). Results: We reported a higher level of maternal satisfaction with pre-delivery information adequacy, pain relief and delivery experience among patients delivering vaginally as well as when patients were educated and coming from urban areas. Primigravidas lacking any form of previous delivery experience were less satisfied with Cesarean delivery experience, information adequacy and pain relief, yet they preferred to have the same mode of delivery next pregnancy. Conclusion: Patients’ demographics as origin, education level as well as previous delivery experience can affect post-partum patient’s satisfaction among Egyptian women.
