Efficacy of Sublingual Immunotherapy as Opposed to Cluster Immunotherapy in Respiratory Tract Allergy

Introduction: Allergy is a disorder of the immune system against normally harmless environmental substances known as allergens. Immunotherapy is a medical procedure that uses controlled exposure to known allergens to reduce the severity of allergic disorders. The choice between the most effective methods of immunotherapy is still controversial. Aim of the Work: This study aims at comparing the efficacy of sublingual immunotherapy as opposed to cluster immunotherapy among respiratory tract allergy patients to mite. Subjects and Methods: This study is a double-blind controlled study that was conducted in the Allergy and Immunology clinic of Suez Canal University Hospital. The sample size was 26 cases were divided into two groups, each group enclosed 13 cases. First group was treated by cluster immunotherapy and second group was treated by sublingual immunotherapy. Results: The results revealed obvious improvement in symptoms in both groups during the study period. Conclusion: The mechanism of sublingual schedule is more safe, easy and familiar.
