Abstract :
Objective: To predict the diabetic foot ulcer risk using sensory monofilament test among diabetic patients attending The National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrine Glands. Patients and Methods: The present study is descriptive exploratory study that was conducted among 151 male and female adult patients, who were between 30 and 60 years, with type 11 diabetes mellitus, with palpable peripheral pulse and without presence of foot ulceration and were attending The National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrine Glands. A scheduled questionnaire and a feet examination sheet were used. Results: There was a statistically significant relation between sensory monofilament test score and occurrence of diabetic foot ulcer. Conclusion: Sensory monofilament test is a simple practical test for prediction of diabetic foot ulceration risk.
