  • Abstract
    The study was a post-occupancy evaluation aimed at weighing occupants satisfying factors inselected private and public residential estates; questionnaire administration was employed; andhousing variables were identified from previous studies. Extracted from the representative sampletable developed by “The Research Advisors”, 346 respondents were administered withquestionnaires; the response rate was 285. The mean score was used in weighing occupants satisfying factors in the estates. Generally, the private housing estate residents were found toderive better satisfaction from the physical and social elements than the residents of public housingestates. Recommendation is that, building projects for low and middle-income earners shouldaccord priority attention to “shopping malls, educational, recreational, healthcare facilities andother public infrastructure; in addition to routine maintenance of facilities, regular collection ofrefuse, constant supply of water and electricity in the estates; as well as promotion of incrementalconstruction.
