Abstract :
This article examines the relations of the Russian Federation, that is one of the main players of the second “Great Game”, with Azerbaijan. Nagorno Karabakh issue, legal status of the Caspian and struggle for the pipelines influence both internal and foreign policies of Azerbaijan as well as the relations between Moscow and Baku. Therefore, Russian Federation’s relations with Azerbaijan will be examined within the context of these problems. It is mentioned that there are two rival groups in the region (Russian Federation-Armenia-Iran on the one side and USA-Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia on the other). This group will be discussed in this article by examing the relations between Russian Federation and Azerbaijan. This article argues that there are no such rival groups in the region.
