Abstract :
Political parties are the vital elements of modern democratic regimes. Today, for a democracy, the existence of more than one political parties and fair and free competition of these parties is a necessity. In Turkey, until 1946, singe party regime has been employed and after this year, Turkey shifted to multi-parties regime, which is required for real democracy. Since 1946, political parties were counted and regulated in 1961 and 1982 constitutions. In this study; the relation between political parties and democracy, the regulations of 1982 constitution on political parties, the amendments in these regulation in time and lastly, the judgments of constitution regarding the closure cases of political parties will be examined.
