Abstract :
Communication is an indispensable element of individual existence. Communication shapes our humanly and societal relationship network. Without communication, an individual cannot gain an identity and collectivity in the society. On the other hand, visible communication channels to provide state-citizen interaction is important for the wealth, happiness, peace and trust of citizens to their authorities. In this context, the aim of this research is to evaluate the social dimension of communication in government-citizen interaction in Turkey. Developments in information and communication technologies (ICT) are assumed to have positive effect on government-citizen interaction. In the research part of the study, data about the information and communication technology of Turkish Statistics Institution and Ministry of Development have been analyzed by using file analysis method. Obtained data has been examined by descriptive analysis and interpreted. The results of the study put forward that youth, males, people with higher education levels used internet and communication more than their counterparts namely, elderly, females and people with lower education attainment levels. Moreover, the study also stresses that the investment efforts over development of information and communication technologies (ICT) have increased, applications of e-state programme and the number of its users have increased, social media ranked first for internet use and that it caused some problems.
