Abstract :
This study was conducted during July 2005 in four villages ofSwat district with the objective to examine the effect offarmers circumstances on onion yield It was observed that farmers in the research area allocated thirty two percent ofcropped area to onion crop by cultivating Swat-I and local varieties. The study revealed that farmers having small land holdings, high education level, onion transplanted during the first half of December, more farming experience and have contacts with agriculture department for new technology, received higher yield ofonion.
