Abstract :
In this research the fertility status of Rod Kohi soils from D.I. Khan Division, Pakistan was investigated during 2006. Soil samples were collected from 87 different locations and analyzed for physical, chemical and nutritional properties. The purpose of this research was to determine the nature of soils, their salinity and sodicity status and productivity of Rod Kohi area of D.I. Khan Division. Over 50% of the samples had medium textured, while the rest (45.9%) had fine textured. Only small proportion of samples (3.5%) had moderately coarse textured. The saturation percentage ranged from 16.2 to 67.0%. Out of 87 locations, 74.7% soils were normal, 13.8% saline, 5.8% sodic. All samples from 87 locations were deficient in mineral N where as 89.4% were deficient in P. On the other hand appropriate amount of K was found in 70.6% samples. It was also observed that effective use of N, P and K in balanced proportion had increased the yield of wheat under Rod Kohi conditions of Dera Ismail Khan Division in year 2006-07.
