Comparative analysis of characteristics of adopters and non-adopters of artificial insemination in Ardabil Province of Iran

The present study was carried out with the aim of analyzing characteristics of adopters and non-adopters of artificial insemination in Ardabil province. A survey approach was used in this study and a questionnaire was developed to gather the data. The study population was dairy farmers who were selected by applying purposive sampling technique. Sample size for dairy farmers was 61. Data were analyzed by using SPSS/WIN software. The t and Mann-Whitney U tests revealed that adopters and non-adopters of artificial insemination were significantly different in the case of variable such as animal husbandry experience, agro-pasture landholding size, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of artificial insemination, profitability of artificial insemination and need to artificial insemination. Logistic regression analysis showed that need to artificial insemination and innovation proneness could correctly discriminate 90.7 percent of adopters and non-adopters of artificial insemination.
