Abstract
The genus Plectranthus comprises about 300 species distributed over tropical Africa, America, Asia and Australia. In this work we have studied the most common Plectranthus species used as tea drinks known in the Brazil as “Boldo”, where it is very popular for gastric spasms and liver disorders. Since the same trivial name is used for different Plectranthus species, ethnobotanical information becomes very difficult and confusing. The essential oils from Plectranthus barbatus, P. grandis, P. ornatus were obtained by HS-SPME. Their analyses were performed by GC-MS.
