Abstract :
Odour is a highly complex environmental quality liable to positive or negative change by human activities. Positive odours emit fresh and pleasant impacts while negative or foul odours affect human psychological wellbeing, health and general quality of life. This study discussed odour pollution from the open landfills of Krubong, Melaka. The focus was on odour intensity, the level of vulnerability and the period of odour dispersed. The impact of odour pollution on sensitive receptors within 5 kilometers were also discussed based on the local community’s perception. The results showed that odour intensity and foul odour impact among sensitive receptors varied with distance from the landfills.
