Abstract :
The residents’ involvement is an important aspect in tourism development of a destination. This study was aimed to analyze the level of residents’ involvement in tourism development in Putrajaya and to seek whether they have benefited or otherwise. The involvement of the residents in this study was assessed in several aspects; in the use of tourism product and the ease of travel, as the host in tourism activities and also as the tourism entrepreneurship inPutrajaya. A survey of 200 Putrajaya residents was conducted in several sites that have high concentration of tourist arrivals such as site of attractions, community centers, food courts, parks and grocery stores. The findings indicate the involvement of residents in tourism activities was satisfactory while their level of support was high. With the efforts of providing more integrated and inclusive tourism, Putrajaya would be one example to promote theinvolvement of the urban population in tourism activities.
