Abstract :
Remote Sensing is a tool that has the ability to observe information about the earth’s land and water surfaces by using satellite technology and interpreting them into images by means of electromagnetic spectrum through electromagnetic radiation. Before the advent of satellite technology the accuracy of remote sensing suffered from such defects as could be expected when images were taken by using air balloon, kite-flying, and aircraft technology. There are several processes involved in remote sensing : (i) the description of physical object ‘captured’ by sensors; (ii) the production of the sensored information into data; and (iii) the extraction of information prior to its specific application. These physical objects can exist in many forms and types depending on the reflection of light back to the satellite from the sun. Although three types of primary colours typically applied are blue, red and green various objects that exist on the earth’s surface may be represented by mixed colors, such as yellow, cyan, magenta, and so on. A variety of light reflection is very important in determining the shape of a static or non-static object . Among the applications that are of everyday use are Identification Fishing Site System, Integrated Geospatial Database System and Planning (IGDP), Control System and Rice Yield Prediction, Monitoring Environmentally Sensitive Areas, Disaster Management Environment Health and Biodiversity Inventory. These rich applications of remote sensing have contributed immensely to the serving of human interests, and may be even more indispensable in forecasting for the future.
