Abstract :
The success of an automotive industry has a lot to do with its ability to achieve total quality improvement in practices such as quality control, production cost, development of supply chains, sustainable performance, and advanced technology adoptability. This study explored the critical success factors of total productive maintenance for Malaysian automotive industry. Based on empirical data gathered from a field survey, two factors of autonomous maintenance and education and training were found to be the most important factors for total productive maintenance in the industry. These were complemented by planned maintenance and quality maintenance.
