Abstract :
Educational tourism is an increasingly popular newcomer in alternative tourism with its catchy ‘education first’ and ‘tourism first’ dual model. This study found that with the location and operation of many world class institutes of higher education within its geographical boundary, such as the Olympia College, KDU College, Institute of Silicon Technology and Disted-Stamford College Olympia College, KDU College, Institute of Silicon Technology and Disted-Stamford College, Penang was also experiencing the growth of eduational tourism as evidenced by the influx of students from abroad. The island state did manage to offer its international students the ideal of combining ‘business’ (study) with pleasures (travel around the island) thus enhancing the tourism reputation of Penang and Malaysia in the eyes of the world.
