Abstract :
The 21st century poses improvement demands on the quality of education a country may offer to its student population. Various methods have been implemented to meet this challenge such as strengthening teacher identity and sharpening their skills and abilities through teaching supervision. To evaluate the quality characteristics of the supervision practiced by the chief invigilator in Malaysia, the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) technique was modified for existing teaching and supervision practices. The quadrant analysis findings showed a much higher mean value for the existing supervisory practice indicating its overwhelming importance. By contrast , virtually no other quadrant attributes were recorded. This suggests the imperative of stakeholders focussing on improving further the practice of teaching supervision.
