Abstract :
Collaboration is a crucial element capable of transforming traditional education and thus is essential in a Professional Learning Community model today seeking to improve teaching quality and performance. According to Islam, the notion of collaboration is vitally far reaching as stated clearly in the Quran and the Hadis. To drive home this point this study overviewed the definition of Professional Learning Communities (PLC), the concept of collaboration in Professional Learning Communities, and the practice of Professional Learning Communities according to the Islamic perspective. In conclusion, the Islamic perspective of collaboration may be anchored in the concept of ‘good’ and ‘evil’ Ta’awun where Ta’awun which leads to good outcomes should be encouraged and Ta’awun which leads to evil outcomes must be shunned.
