Abstract :
A field experiment was conducted to determine the optimum sowing time for best arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) colonisation and maximum grain production in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) cultivor cv. Inqlab 91. Sowing wasdone on 20th November, 5th December, 20th December 1996, and 4th January 1997. The best sowing date proved to be November, 20th as far as maximum AM colonisation, root/shoot growth and grain production in this wheat variety is concerned. Gradual decrease in AM colonisation, plant vegetative growth and yield was observed by delaying the sowing.
