Abstract :
Malay proverb is one of the important components in Malay traditional poetry which characterized the Malay mind that has been immersed in everyday life. The beauty of the Malay proverbs are not only reflected from the sequencing of the words and symbolism, but also ref!ecting their behavior, knowledge and philosophy that is base on the mind of Malay people. Hence, this research is carried out to explore the mind and philosophy of Malay people that is contained in proverbs that focus on fish (Pisces) by using the analysis approach of semantic inquisitives. As a result, this research shows that the phenomenon that happens in proverbs are able to be discribed and explore the wisdom of Malay people in the past that are high in intelect.
