Abstract :
The discussion about the milieu of adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) among indigenous communities have been discussed by local and international scholars. In despite of the issues in common is the digital divide that exists between indigenous and mainstream society. Nevertheless, the synthesis of the findings of scholars concluded that the indigenous community has an ability to integrate ICT adopted as mainstream society. However, the reality experienced by Orang Asli youth on this issue remains to be seen. Hence, this research lists two objectives to ensure that the issue be discussed in more streamlined, which describe the adoption of ICT and ICT integration clarify matters by virtue of the Orang Asli youth. To achieve these objectives, a study conducted on 24 people of Orang Ali youth in Orang Asli settlements in Bukit Lanjan Damansara and Carey Island, Selangor. The triangulation approach used for data collection, namely through focus group discussions, in-depth interviews and nonparticipation observations. Data were analyzed by QSR NVivo. The results showed Orang Asli youth adopted ICT. The adoption of ICT is value-driven especially by conformity value in which adopted by mainstream society and that is seen as more ahead in terms of development. The article suggested that development on Orang Asli undertaken based on three principles, namely a focused, comprehensive and consistent.
