Abstract :
The purpose of this article is to discuss about the infl uence of gender towards Malaysian matriculation students in choosing engineering course. A sample of 496 matriculation students who studied at local mtriculation college in 2010/2011 session was randomly choosen as the respondents. Quantitative method has been used as the research methodology. Hence, self developed questionnaire was distributed to the students. The data was collected and analysed by using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) software. The result showed that only 87 male students and 83 female students were interested to pursue engineering course. Since the Crosstab analysis proved that there is unsignifi cant differences between male and female students, the mean and standard deviation value for both groups seems to be equal. Both groups choose the suitability of study program with their personality, career opportunities and interest are signifi cantly infl uenced them in choosing the university and engineering program.
