Best Leadership Practices for “Learning Organization” Schools

The learning organization concept and its practice is still somehow a novelty, especially in the sphere of primary and secondary education in Malaysia. Therefore, the aim of this research was to develop a list of best leadership practices as a guide for schools to become learning organization. Data were collected using three iteration rounds of Delphi technique. In the fi rst iteration round, interviews were conducted with 15 education experts. Meanwhile, in the second and third iteration rounds, questionnaires were distributed to the same experts. Interviews data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Data for the second and third iteration rounds were analyzed using descriptive statistics such mod scores, median scores and inter-quartile range (JAK). Results found fi ve elements of best leadership for learning organization. The elements were providing learning space and opportunities for teachers, becoming role model for learning, encouraging innovation activities, giving rewards and recognition, developing the potential of school members. 42 leadership practices were given high level of consensus by the experts as best leadership practices for “learning organization” school. This research suggested that school headmasters and principals implement the best practices in order to develop their schools as learning organization.
