Abstract :
This study aim to identify family interaction patterns among the student violates school discipline and its relationship with self-concept. Data were gathered using a set of questionnaires consist of demographic information, family interaction and self-concept. A total of 313 students involved in disciplinary problems from Kuala Terengganu district involved in this study. The finding showed that education and occupation of parents, as well as family income contributed to the differences in family interaction among students who violate discipline. Two of sub-scales of the family interaction, which are the general functionality and the family cohesiveness accounted for 31.8 percent of the students’ self-concept. Therefore, family interaction, especially understanding of their roles as well as cohesiveness should be considered seriously because it has a significant influence on the formation of self-concept.
