Abstract :
An experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Institute, Tarnab, Peshawar to evaluate the efficacy of different insecticides for the management of onion thrips (Thrips tabaci Lind) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) on onion bulb crop in 2007-2008. Six treatments (Five insecticides + control) were replicated four times in randomized complete block design. Five insecticides KarateTM 2.5EC @ 330 ml/acre, ThiodanTM 35EC@ 800 ml/acre, ConfidorTM 20%SL@60 ml/acre, CuracronTM 500EC@500 ml/ acre and CrownTM 200SL@100 ml/acre were applied twice at ETL. All the insecticides were significantly better than untreated check in reducing pest population after both applications. Thiodan proved best followed by Curacron and Karate.
