  • Abstract
So far, fossils are the main source of thermal energy. Because of the new environmental regulations and future requirements, thermal energy should be produced from sustainable, renewable and emission-free energy sources. In this context, geothermal power meets these requirements but it must be integrated into the existing systems. It is difficult to build new geothermal power plants and feed heat to existing network because the existing district heating systems are located in densely populated and builtup areas. This paper examines the possibilities of using geothermal resources in Zagreb city based on the available technologies, for district heating.
