Abstract
The charge transfer complexation between C60 and 1-methylpiperazine, 1- methylpyrrolidine, 1-methylpiperidine, tripentylamine and trihexylamine was studied in toluene using Uv-Vis. spectrophotometry at 25°C. The stability constants were determined using the Benesi-Hildebrand equation. All amines under investigation form 1:1 complexes with C60, except 1-methylpiperazine which forms a 2:1 complex (amine: C60). The effect of the alkyl chain and number of nitrogen atoms in the amine molecule on the stability of the complexes are discussed.
