Abstract
This study aims at describing criteria for the classification of French verbs in teaching French as a foreign language. The difficulties in various forms of verbs and the differences between the oral and written language are shown and described for didactic purposes. In this respect, traditional and modern methods of teaching French as a foreign language have been underlined, in order to help solve problems which Arab beginners confront.
