Abstract :
In this study, a series of batch laboratory experiments were conducted in orderto investigate the feasibility of Elais Guineensis kernel or known as palm kernelshell (PKS)-based activated carbon for the removal of copper from aqueoussolution by the adsorption process. Investigation was carried out by studyingthe influence of initial solution pH, adsorbent dosage and initial concentrationof copper. The particle size of PKS used was categorized as PKS–M. All batchexperiments were carried out at a constant temperature of 30°C (±2°C) usingmechanical shaker that operated at 100 rpm. The single component equilibriumdata was analyzed using Langmuir, Freundlich, Redlich-Peterson, Temkin andToth adsorption isotherms.
