Abstract
The corrosion inhibition of low carbon steel by propargylic alcohol in 1M hydrochloric acid solution has been investigated by Potentiodynamic test, weight loss and microstructure examination. The results have shown that propargylic alcohol acts as mixed type anodic and cathodic inhibitor and that the adsorption is of the Frumkin s type. The mechanism of action of propargylic alcohol can be assumed to be related to the reduction of the triple bond by the hydrogen evolved during initial stage of the corrosion process.
