Abstract :
In this study, concentrations ofnine trace metals, i.e., manganese, zinc, copper, nickel, lead,. ... ..cadmium, iron, chromium and .copalt··have:·been determined in thirteen different spices. . .... .and plants having folk medecinal uses. Arnicrowave -digestion procedure has been used todissolve trace metals in samples HN03:H202 4:2). All metals in the samples were analyzedusing flame and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The metal concentrationsin the samples were found to be 26.4-324.0, 78.2-2 11.0, 14.5-214.0, 1.9-330.2, 0.1-0.4,0.3-0.7, 117.6-619.7, 0.1-0.9 and ·0.1-0.3 (mu)g/g for manganese, zinc copper, nickel lead, cadmium, iron, chromium and cobalt, respectively. The present study provides baseline dataon essential trace metal levels in spices and medicinalplants.
