Abstract :
Derivatives. of 4-(dihydroxyphenylthio )-6-methyl-2H-pyran-2-one have been synthesized by direct electrochemical oxidation of catechols (1a-d) in the presence of prepared 4-mercapto-6-mehyl-2H-pyran-2 -one (3) as a nucleophile the one-pot process applying phase association conditions ,at carbon rod electrode, in an undivided cell under constant current conditions was used. The high yield and purity was obtained. The following EC mechatiism in water/ acetonitrile/chlorofom medium was controlled by applying cyclic voltammetry.
