Abstract :
A study was conducted to know the species composition of mosquitoes that breed in Palosai stream passing near Peshawar University Campus area from April to June 2006 and then in October to January 2007. Immature stages of mosquitoes were collected from different sites of the Palosai stream, which were then reared and the resultant adults were identified up to species level. A total of 15082 individuals were collected during this study, which belong to two genera of Culex and Anopheles. The collection contained one gynandromorph individual with both male and female characters in different parts of the body. The head and thorax are female like, while abdomen is with well-developed male genitalia.
