Abstract :
This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of circle and flow mapping in narrative essay writing skills in one of the national-type Chinese primary schools. This quasi-experimental study was conducted over a five-year Chinese pupils. A total of 30 pupils as sample for the experimental group and 30 pupils were sample for the control group. Through teaching and learning, pupils in the experimental group were given treatment using thinking maps i-Think. Data obtained from pre and posttest. Data were analyzed using t-test and ANOVA test. The findings showed that there were significant differences on narrative essay writing skills of a sample experimental group in post-test and t = t = 2.114 and sig = 0.039 (p 0.05). This study proved that the use of circle and flow mapping strategy in Malay Language teaching and learning successfully increased achievement in writing narrative among Chinese pupils from Chinese primary schools
