Abstract :
This study was designed to investigate the attitudes of sixth grade primary school students towards music course according to different variables. The sample in the research, which was carried out by Survey methods, was consisted of 177 sixth grade students from three different Primary Schools under the Ministry of Education in the city of Ankara, Çankaya in 2007-2008 Academic Year. The data was gathered with a Questionnaire developed by the authors and “Attitudes Towards Music Course Scale” which was developed by Nacakcı (2006). The data analysed as frequencies, percentage, mean, independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that there was no significant difference regarding students’ music courseattitudes according to parents’ education level and occupation. There was a significant differenceaccording to gender on behalf of girls. No significant difference was found according to havinga family member or neighbour playing a musical instrument, instead, significant difference wasfound on behalf of the students who play a musical instrument other that recorder.
