Abstract :
In the research, the relation between the child rearing attitudes of the mothers who have children with mental disabilities and the behaviors of the children, who make normal progress, towards their sibling who have mental disabilities was examined. Mothers of ninety four children with disabilities whose age change among five – fifteen (fifty one girls, forty three boys) and who still have their education at private training and rehabilitation center affiliated to the Ministry of National Education and their siblings who make normal progress and whose age change among nine – seventeen (fifty five girls, thirty nine boys) were included in the research. In the research General Information Form, Family Life and Child rearing Attitude Scale (PARI) and Schaeffer Sibling Behavior Rating Scale were used. As a result of the research, it is determined that the relation between the points obtained from over protective motherhood trait of the Family Life and Child Rearing Attitude Scale and the trait of being kind of the Schaeffer Sibling Behavior Rating Scale is positively meaningful (r =.213, p .05), the relation between the points obtained from the traits of parent conflict and strict discipline and the trait of the empathy of the Schaeffer Sibling Behavior Rating Scale is negatively meaningful (r = -.216, r = - .223, p .05).
