Abstract
In this stduy which aims to display whether the texts in Turkish textbooks are appropriate for critical thinking training or not, in 2008-2009 academic year 69 texts are analysed which are choosen at random in three different Turkish textbooks for 6.7.and 8. grades, by the Turkish Ministry Of Educatıon in Zonguldak.A data collection device was developed by the researchers which contains five items by taking opinions of field experts in order to detect the appropriateness of the texts for critical thinking training,this five-itemed data collection device is put into practice by grading with a rubric by three difeerent researchers. In the result of the study; it was reached that the texts in Turkish text book of 6th grade are appropriate for critical thinking training when the critical thinking components like independence consistence, evaluation, behaving without prejudice, being active and organized are considered. It was seen that some texts in Turkish text book for 7th grade are not appropriate for the critical thinking components.Meanwhile,the texts for 8th Turkish text book are partly appropriate in terms of critical thinking training.
