Abstract
This study aimed to explore the roots, numerical values and ratios, and the rationales of 5100 male names determined in the Bozok Deputy Mufassal notebook belonging to Prime ministry Ottoman Archive with the label of TD 315 (H. 963/M. 1556). Arabic origined names were observed as more intensively used comparing toTurkish and Persian names. The ratio of the names used in the Bozok Deputy are as follows: 59% of Arabic, 40.3% of Turkish, and 0.7% of Turkish. Arabic names given in that deputy were observed as belonging to Prophetand his friends. The rationale under choosing Turkish origined names we reconsidered as stemming fromTurkish religious and culture. On the otherside, Persian names, which are few in total, were affiliated with connotations of heroismand moral ethics.
