Abstract :
This study examined whether self-efficacy points of 4th and 5th grade students in elementaryschool predicts or not their academic achievement for Math, Turkish Language, Social Studiesand English lessons. The study is a scanning model research. Sample of the study consists of478 students from 4th grade and 562 students from 5th grade in 23 elementary schools locatedin the Anatolian part of Istanbul Province. In this study, data were collected via the toolsof “Self-Efficacy Scale for Children” and “Academic Achievement Scale”. The obtained dat have been applied corelation and regression analysis. Self-efficacy points of 4th grade studentshave explained approximately 25% of achievement in Math, 22% of achievement in TurkishLanguage, 28% of achievement in Social Studies, and 17% of achievement in English lesson.On the other hand, self-efficacy points of 5th grade students have explained approximately 19%of achievement in Math, 21% of achievement in Turkish Language, 12% of achievement inSocial Studies, and 18% of achievement in English lesson.
