  • Abstract
    This research aims to analyze emotional intelligence competencies of department chairs according to faculty perceptions in terms of various variables. This research is conducted in public universities located in the Aegean Region. The sample of this research consists of faculty were working in the Faculties of Education and Science and Arts. Data was collected by a scale called “Emotional Intelligence Competencies of Department Chairs’ which included Likert type 47 items. Data was analyzed by SPSS program. The result shows that emotional intelligence competencies of department chairs were in average level at the perception of faculty. The study found that faculty teaching at Muğla University had higher perception than faculty working in Celal Bayar University in terms of intelligence competencies of department chairs; along with women faculty had higher perception than men faculties, those have 0-5 years seniority had higher perception than those who have seniority between 6-10 and 11-15.
