  • Abstract
    The purpose of the present study is to determine pre-service science teachers’ conceptions of teaching and learning and compare them in relation to some variables. The study was designed in the survey model. The study group of the current research involved 154 pre-service science teachers from the Elementary Education Program at the Education Faculty of Dumlupınar University. In the analysis of the data collected through “Teaching and Learning Conceptions Questionnaire”, descriptive statistics were calculated and Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H were employed. The results of the study revealed that the pre-service science teachers adopted constructivist approach in learning and teaching and the conceptions of learning and teaching vary significantly depending on gender, grade level attended and approaches and educational philosophies adopted by the teachers the students have met throughout their education lives.
