Abstract
In this study, the impact of creative drama methods on academic achievement in the teaching of length and environmental subjects within the 3rd grade math lessons has been researched. The study has been conducted in the 2012-2013 school year in an elementary school located within the Ankara province. The study has been designed as quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups. Achievement test developed through the researchers was utilized as the data collection tool. Data were analyzed by SPss software package in the analysis process and t test was employed for dependent and independent measurements. At the end of the study, it has been demonstrated that there were significant differences in the post-test scores of the experimental group and the control group in favor the experimental group. It has been determined that the applied creative drama method increases academic achievement more compared with the activities in the textbook.
