Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to determine the level of the teachers’ organizational socialization and self-monitoring skills and to determine the relationship between those two concepts. Both the correlational and survey model was used in this research. The sample of the research consists of 517 teachers chosen randomly from 1513 candidate teachers who have assigned to Şehitkamil and Şahinbey central districts in Gaziantep in 2013-2014 educational year. “Organizational Socialization Scale” developed by Erdoğan (2012) and “Revised Self-Monitoring Scale” developed by Lennox and Wolfe (1984) was used to gather the necessary data. For data analysis Mann Whitney U- test for independent samples, Kruskal Wallis H-test for independent samples and Spearman Correlation was used. According to analysis results, candidate teachers’ organizational socialization level and self-monitoring skills are “high”. Also, it has been revealed that there is a “low”, meaningful relationship in positive direction between the candidate teachers’ organizational socialization and self monitoring skills. Therefore, it can be said that self-monitoring skill should taken into consideration for their organizational socialization process.
