  • Abstract
    The purpose of this research is to find out prospective science and technology teachers’ metaphors about science laboratory. For this purpose, prospective science and technology teachers’ metaphors analyzed with the method of metaphor analysis. The study is designed based on one of the qualitative research method named as phenomenology and analyzed with content analysis methods (Patton, 2001; Yıldırım Şimşek, 2005). The participants of this study are (n=72) students from education faculty department of science education 3rd year. A total of 51 metaphors produced by the participants and these metaphors is divided into a total of nine categories. As most of the categories, participants have produced positive metaphors about science laboratory (%91). From the data obtained, it is understood that mostly ‘Kitchen’ metaphor is used by the participants. Men categorize the laboratory metaphor the function of science laboratory (%36) while women categorize it as exploration and producing environment (%21) when it is considered as categories.
