  • Abstract
In this study, the relation between the openness of the schools to change and transformational leadership behaviors of the principals were analyzed according to the perceptions of the teachers working in secondary schools. The sample of the study consist of 251 teachers working in state schools under Ministry of National Education in Yakutiye County, Erzurum, in 2013- 2014 educational years. “Openness to Change Inventory” and “Transformational Leadership Scale” were used as data collecting tools in the study. In this descriptive study, standard deviation, mean, Pearson Product-Moment correlation and multi-linear regression analyses were done in the analysis of the data. As a result of the study, idealized influence dimension among the transformational leadership dimensions is the most perceived dimension, and on looking at the distributions related to openness to change, principals’ openness to change dimension is the most perceived dimension. It was seen that there is a positive and significant relation between all of the dimensions of transformational leadership and openness to change scales. On analyzing the results of regression analysis, it was seen that idealized influence, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration dimensions of transformational leadership scale predict positively and significantly all dimensions of openness of the schools to change. The results of the study were discussed in the context of developing the openness of the schools to change and transformational behaviors of the principals. On analyzing the results of the regression analysis, it is seen that idealized influence, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration dimensions of transformational leadership positively and significantly predict all the dimensions of the openness of the schools to the change inventory.
