  • Abstract
    The aim of this study is to determine the phrase peceptions of 10-12 years old gifted children studying in Science and Arts Centers. Students are asked to select phrases from Turkish Language Association Proverbs and Phrases Dictionary, and draw these phrases according to their understanding . After students draw their phrases, all pictures are collected and exaimed whether they draw the phrases according to their true meaning or metaphor. Acording to results of the study, 3 of the students draw the pictures using the abstract meaning of the phrases, 46 of them draw using the concrete meaning and 22 of them draw both abstract and concrete meanings of the phrases. Finally, 30.9% of the students illustrate both real and metaphor meaning of the phrases, 4.3% of them illustrate only metaphor meanings, and 64.8% of them illustrate only real meainins of the phrases.
