Abstract :
This study contains student’s perceptions about the contribution of reading the novel of Devlet Ana to the lesson of Ottoman Empire History and Civilization. The study is a qualitative work and has a descriptive structure with its data collection tools as structured questionnaire and focus group interview. 26 students read the novel voluntarily and five of them being interviewed as focus group interview before and after reading. Also it is used a questionnaire which consists six open ended questions. As a result students state that reading the novel of Devlet Ana reinforced what they learned in the lesson of Ottoman Empire History and civilization. It contributes learning new information that associate with the subject. As a result, students who participated in the work think that reading novel would be useful for learning history.
