Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to analyze primary school teachers’, 1st grade students, and their parents’ perceptions of pre-school teachers and education through metaphors. In this sense, data were collected from primary school teachers working in the schools with nursery classes located in Yenimahalle district of Ankara province and Gazipaşa district of Antalya province after distributing “Data Collection Form for Teachers”, from 1st grade students via “Data Collection Form for Students”, and from parents via “Data Collection Form for Parents”. Qualitative research methods were employed in this study. The metaphors created by the study group were analyzed via content analysis. The study group created metaphors mostly under the categories of teacher with molding and formatting functions as well as the teacher as the supplier of knowledge.
